Asrar Damdam is a scientist and entrepreneur who pursued her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on the Internet of Food. Asrar was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science Middle East Young Talents” Award in 2020 for building a reconfigurable silicon electronic platform for heart-assistive devices, KAUST Research Excellence Award in 2021 and was named to Forbes 30 under 30 Middle East list of innovators for 2021. She is the founder and CEO of Uvera, a cleantech startup that she founded in Silicon Valley for the aim of tackling the global challenge of reducing food loss and waste by 50% by the year 2030. Uvera technology keeps food fresher for longer, by up to 97% on average and without use of chemicals.
