As Lead Projects Engineer at BEEAH Energy, the clean and renewable energy business under BEEAH Group, Ahmed Albatta plays a leading role in the evaluation, development and implementation of key energy projects. Reporting to the CEO of BEEAH Energy, Ahmed liaises with key stakeholders to ensure best practices are followed across projects, from assessment and infrastructure development to delivery and maintenance.
Ahmed is on the Steering Committee of the Sharjah Waste to Energy plant, the inaugural project of the Emirates Waste to Energy company, a pioneering joint venture between BEEAH and Masdar. As the region’s first waste-to-energy plant operating at a commercial scale, the project required both Ahmed’s technical acumen and project management skills. He advised on engineering and construction activities, procurement and manufacturing, operations, and maintenance of the waste-to-energy project. Ahmed also supports business development at the Emirates Waste to Energy company, where he pursues new opportunities for waste-to-energy production across the MENA region on behalf of the BEEAH-Masdar venture.
In addition to the waste-to-energy project, Ahmed is also a crucial part of other value-from-waste projects, such as BEEAH’s upcoming waste-to-hydrogen plant in collaboration with Chinook Sciences. He leads project delivery for the waste-to-hydrogen plant, from conceptual design and FEED phasing to execution. He is also invested in identifying market streams for hydrogen production, storage, and market utilization.
He also helped manage the commissioning of the on-site solar farm at the iconic BEEAH Headquarters, which was key to making it one of the most sustainable
and smartest buildings in the world. The solar farm has an output of 500 KWp, which will be a contributing factor to the building achieving net-zero operations and a LEED Platinum certification.
Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Sharjah. To stay up to date on industry and project management best practices, he has also pursued several certifications. He is certified as a Project Management Professional and Project Management Expert by the Project Management Institute in 2018. In 2019, he was certified as a Green Associate by LEED. In 2020, he also received his Scrum Fundamentals certificate for Agile Project Management.
